Book Review: Uncomplicate It by Hosanna Wong

Sometimes you read a book, and it’s not just enjoyable—it’s genuinely refreshing. Uncomplicate It by Hosanna Wong is exactly that.

What I love most is that this book isn’t just for someone who’s curious about God or exploring faith for the first time (though it’s beautiful for that too). It’s also for those of us who have been walking with Jesus for a long time—but maybe, somewhere along the way, we’ve picked up extra weight we were never meant to carry.

This book invited me to pause and re-evaluate how I approach my faith… and even my calling.

Hosanna reminds us that God is not rigid—He’s relational. He’s flexible in the most freeing way. He wants to spend every minute with us, not in a pressured, performative way, but in a real, life-giving relationship. She paints this picture of a God who is deeply aware of how you’re wired—how you think, how you process, how you see the world—and who meets you right there.

And not only meets you—but leads you.

Personally.

Uniquely.

Intimately.

That truth alone felt like a deep exhale for my soul.

I also loved how she emphasizes that God doesn’t ask us to become someone else to follow Him. He makes a path for us to walk with Him in our uniqueness. There’s so much freedom in that. Freedom to worship, freedom to follow, freedom to be fully known and still fully loved.

Hosanna has this gift of writing that lets you hear her voice as you read. It feels like you’re sitting across from her, sharing a plate of delicious cheeses, having one of those conversations that’s both comforting and quietly convicting. Her tone is conversational, honest, and deeply inspiring. She doesn’t talk at you—she walks with you.

And she’s funny, which I always appreciate.

But more than anything, she helps you gently shake loose the knots in your faith—the expectations, comparisons, and pressures that keep you from living and loving and leaning into God more freely. She reminds you that God is the one who pursues. That you don’t have to strive or compare your relationship with Him to anyone else’s.

You just get to respond.

If you’ve ever felt like your faith has gotten a little… complicated, this book is an invitation back to simplicity. Back to relationship. Back to a God who loves you more than you know and meets you right where you are.
